I think the wonderfully creative Leonardo Da Vinci said it best when he was quoted saying “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.”
For me harmony in my life comes from simplifying my needs, when all the facets of my life are working harmoniously together I feel great and balanced. To enable your life balance to happen, you need to be open to change and to make some tough choices for your best life.
I love simplifying my life. It makes me more efficient and life less stressful. It makes me calmer, and more able to enjoy my life and do the things that matter most.
But where do you start? Or continue if you are already on your way? Let me tell you how I started....
This year I decided to pave a new path for my future, I decided to take back my life and make it more simple. I decided to get a balanced life back, and start studying again. I decided to learn how to learn again, I ultimately (little did I know at the time), I was claiming back what I had started to loose.I know many people that might say – ITS JUST TOO HARD to study,or I AM TOO OLD or ITS JUST TO HARD to commit to learning again, well the truth is – it is hard, but its so worth it. My brain hasn’t been used like this in years (no really!!). I am learning and using my life experience in ways I never knew I could. I am also surprising myself with my results as well. Now that in itself is a wonderful gift!
Ideally, most people aim to earn more money each year, we all aim to cut out activities that don’t maximize our earning potential, and allocate our time based on monetary values.
We outsource menial jobs and mundane tasks when we’re able—we’re too busy making money to spend quality time doing things that don’t require brain power or using your real intuitive creativity and chasing your dreams. I say intuitive in a way outside of the working space that you can be yourself and also creative. We usually sacrifice our balanced lives for the endless chase for more—we deserve abundance, right?
Most people I know (including myself at one point) wear their busyness like a badge of respect and honour — believing that being busy is a sign of their ultimate success, or happiness.
This theory of busyness just doesn’t make sense to me anymore. I have started to see things a little differently now and I feel like I am finally reaping the benefits of a true balanced life, that’s why I want to share it with you, I feel like it can be our secret to true emotional and ultimately lifetime success!
In fact, my goals have been simple I wanted to be able to recognize and enjoy enough. I wanted to recognize what MY enough is, and learn that the endless chasing and maintaining of busyness is hard work. And at some point we all need a break. Whether we want it or not our bodies know when enough is enough!
And I don’t want to be that busy anymore. I want to say “no” to things I don’t want to do, simply because I don’t want to do them; not because there are so many more pressing activities I’m trying to cram into my day.
I’ve been learning ways to minimize my needs, and channel my inner creativeness. I think my journey has just begun and sometimes its easy to revert back to old ways, but I have been remembering a saying my mother always said to me “work smarter, not harder , Your life is meant for living - so enjoy it!!"
Our lives are ever evolving and hence, the importance of reflecting and seeing ways you need to change. What is balancing well for your life now, may not work the same for you in 3 weeks, 3 months or 3 years. But as long as you remain true to yourself and balance your decisions about busyness, you will always have a choice, find your harmonic life - you deserve it.
“When we are unhurried and wise, we perceive that only great and worthy things have any permanent and absolute existence, that petty fears and petty pleasures are but the shadow of the reality”
